Project Do Stuf Day 5-Food Photography

Yesterday was probably the best tasting day of PDS 2014.  The whole fam went to the Hilltop Diner Cafe to have lunch and take photos of their amazing food for a little magazine article.  I didn't need to process them too much, but it was interesting retouching crumbs!

Make sure you head over to the Diner, I'm sure if you mention this blog post you could wrangle up a free piece of pie with your lunch!  Trust me, go order a burger and a piece of fried banana pie.  You will thank me later.

Also check out the video I did for them this last Fall.

Project Do Stuf Day 4-Fiesta!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday Steve Wilding and I shot some great photos of Tiffany Choi, I'll be working on those another day.  I then spent the rest of the day working on this campfire classic that my dad, Randy Gibbons has sung to us since we were toddlers.  My dad is the campfire guru, and this was a great chance to capture the song while my kids are still little, including one REALLY little guy that is just learning english, let alone whatever language this is!! I hope you enjoy it!

Project Do Stuf Day 2-Texturized Kids

Day 2!  Today I shot photos of my kids (a few more days of Spring Break, gotta keep them busy).  I approached it with the plan of further investigating Displacement Maps in photoshop.  Just check out a few tutorials on youtube to learn how to do it.  It involves mapping the shadows of a photo onto a texture, and then combining the two to make it look like the texture is wrapped on to the face beneath it.  I love the end effect!

Emily Photo Shoot

I've had the pleasure of having two assistants this Winter, Jordan Dueck and Steve Wilding.  We set out to capture some modelling portraits for Emily in the bright sun.  Using flashes we were able to knock back the harsh shadows you usually get when shooting in the sun.  I've always driven past this location and I knew we could get some great shots here.  I'll post a few more once they are finished.  Emily did a great job, it was colder out than it looked!

Graceful Angel Composite

Another fun shoot with my wife, used to help out with my photography assistant.  Becca was shot on white background with Flo-Lights, and the sunny field was dropped in after removing horses and a couple houses.  The rainbow was shot on my iPhone, and was in fact a double rainbow!  Title harks back to a song I wrote for her when she was still a teen-ager!  And yes this is her wedding dress ;)
