Canon 24-70L and a last minute photog gig.

Walking in to my daughter's recital with the Dance Barn, I was nabbed by a lady that said "I look like I know what I'm doing" in regards to my camera and tripod.  I ended up being the photographer for the night at the Chandos Pattison Auditorium.  It was very exciting!

The most exciting part was... well that my daughter was dancing, and she was incredible!  But, the OTHER exciting thing was that I had bought the Canon 24-70 F2.8 L lens about 2 hours before the show!!!  I had not even taken one picture with this exact copy, so it was very exciting.  Snapped off over 1000 photos, just because I only had 1 SD card with me, otherwise there would have been many more.  The shots turned out extremely well!

More to come, but here's one of Bella giving it everything she's got.  She is most definitely a dancer, and some random stranger made a point of telling her how incredible she was!

The Bacchae

I had the pleasure of writing a bunch of original pieces for a play being shown at TWU right now, it's called "The Bacchae" and it's an extremely liberal remake of Euripides' ancient Greek play about Dionysus.

The play was written and directed by Aaron Caleb, and stars Mackenzie West (one of my composition students) as the pop star/ diva/ female Steve Jobs-wannabe named Diona.  It's extremely tongue-in-cheek, but is a riot to behold.

The students do an amazing job with the roles, every part is handled with flair and excellent comedic timing. Aaron's dialogue is hilarious, and somehow believable despite the surreal circumstances.  The set is fantastic, designed by a TWU student, and the lighting is perfect.

So go see it!  The show runs for 3 more days, each night at 8:00 and one matinee on Saturday as well.

Here is a mock commercial for "The Wand" a device Diona uses to control the masses.  I shot this in my studio, and did the music for it.

Sendai, the other city I know...

For the past 3 and a half years I have worked pretty much full time for a company called Wine Studios based in Sendai, Japan.  Everyone now knows of the town, before this, I would mention it and people would shake their heads.  I was there for two weeks in February, and was also there in the summer, so the places are very very fresh in my mind.  I just missed the earthquake, and am thankful that I wasn't there when it happened, but I'm saddened by the losses many of my friends are going through.

I just heard from several of them after a weekend of uncertainty, and it seems that my people there have all been spared.  The studio that I work for has suffered damage, but the people are all okay!  I couldn't have been happier to hear this.  I'll post back with more updates as I get them.

Here are some pictures of from Sendai just 3 short weeks ago.

CreativeLIVE BTS with me!

Kenna and Susan literally cornered me and got this little interview... now I don't have to type it on my blog!  Let it be known that I ALSO truly love Tony Robbins and everything that he does.  Maybe one day I'll be a motivational speaker... maybe I already am!  I just love Tony's bottom line-being grateful, and I couldn't be any more grateful with the way things have gone recently!
